"When I told Burna Boy my wife was pregnant, he didn’t seem happy for me," Zlatan Ibile reveals.
According to the Nigerian rapper, Burna’s reaction wasn’t exactly warm or supportive. "The first thing he asked me was, ‘Bro, do you know what you’re doing?’" Zlatan shared, implying that Burna feared his wife might cause him trouble once they had kids.
But Zlatan chose not to dwell on the negativity. Instead, he continued loving and supporting his partner. He even went as far as sponsoring her education in the UK, where she earned a Master’s degree — a move that speaks volumes about his commitment to their future.
This whole experience points to a bigger issue that a lot of people ignore: Some individuals, especially those still dealing with hurt from past relationships, find it hard to celebrate love when they see it working for others. They project their own pain and failures, thinking everyone else will go through the same thing.
Let’s be real — Burna Boy is 34, unmarried, and doesn’t have a child. That doesn’t make him a bad person, but it does mean he might not be the best source of advice on marriage or family life. How can someone give you direction on a journey they’ve never taken?
Zlatan clearly didn’t let that discourage him, and now he’s thriving — both as a father and a supportive partner.
Unfortunately, many young men today are quick to idolize celebrities like Burna (often referred to here as “GehGeh”), thinking their lifestyle is the blueprint for success. Meanwhile, they ignore the wisdom of older, experienced people — like their parents who’ve sustained 60-year marriages.
The truth is, some of these public figures don’t care about your life decisions — they care about engagement, clout, and clicks. And if you let them shape your views on love, family, and commitment, you might wake up one day at 60, single, and regretting your choices — especially when your friends are settled with families of their own.
Congratulations to Zlatan and his wife on her graduation! 🎓
A big win for love, commitment, and choosing wisely who you listen to.
