APC NEC to Meet July 24 to Decide on Ganduje’s Successor
APC NEC to Meet July 24 to Decide on Ganduje’s Successor
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled a crucial meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC) for July 24, 2025, in Abuja, where a decision will be made regarding the party’s leadership following the resignation of its National Chairman,Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
This announcement was made by the APC Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, after a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held on Monday in the nation’s capital.
Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State, stepped down from his position as APC National Chairman last Friday, citing health-related issues. In line with the APC constitution and following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, was appointed to serve in an acting capacity.
Fuanter explained that the upcoming NEC meeting would determine whether Dalori will continue in the acting role until the party’s next national convention or if a new substantive chairman will be selected.
“As you are all aware, the National Executive Committee is the highest decision-making body of the party,” said Fuanter. “Therefore, any decision made by the NWC, including the appointment of an acting chairman, must receive the endorsement of the NEC.
“If during the meeting the NEC decides that a new chairman should be nominated, such a nomination will be accepted and forwarded to the national convention, where a final decision on the party’s substantive chairman will be made.”
He confirmed that the NEC meeting is proposed to take place on the APC national secretariat premises in Abuja.
During the Monday NWC session, members also formally accepted Ganduje’s resignation and expressed appreciation for his service to the party. Fuanter emphasized that the NWC's decision was unanimous and guided by the provisions of the party’s constitution.
“One of the key items addressed at the meeting was the formal acceptance of Dr. Ganduje’s resignation. His decision to step down on health grounds was respected and accepted by the committee,” he noted.
Additionally, the NWC reviewed preparations for upcoming by-elections in various constituencies. Fuanter assured that the party was working strategically to ensure the victory of APC candidates.
“Preparations are in top gear for the by-elections. The party is putting in place measures to ensure successful outcomes across all affected regions,” he said.
As the party navigates this transitional period, all eyes will be on the July 24 NEC meeting, where a clear direction on the party’s national leadership will be determined.

Pastor Femi Lazarus Criticizes Gospel Artists Charging $10K to Perform in Church
Pastor Femi Lazarus has once again spoken out against gospel musicians demanding payment to perform in churches.
In a recent sermon shared online, the Abuja-based cleric revealed that some gospel artists charge as much as $10,000 for church performances. Reading from an industry document known as a "Rider," he disclosed that one unnamed artist required an entourage of 40 people, all of whom had to be accommodated by the church.
The document specified that the musician must receive a first-class flight ticket, while the entourage would be placed in economy. Additionally, the artist demanded an executive suite in a five-star hotel, with four of his primary male assistants also lodged in separate executive suites. The church was also responsible for providing three daily meals, with a preference for local dishes.
One of the most surprising aspects of the agreement, according to Pastor Lazarus, was the honorarium—set at $10,000. The contract also required a non-refundable 50% deposit upfront, with the remaining balance to be paid two days before the event.
The pastor condemned this practice, arguing that it commercializes a divine gift meant to serve God. He expressed concerns that such financial demands force gospel musicians to become overly performative, prioritizing payment over genuine worship.
Pastor Lazarus also emphasized the value of ministering in church without charging fees. He referenced gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey, who has publicly stated that he does not charge for church performances.
His remarks have reignited discussions on the ethics of financial compensation for gospel music ministry.

Femi Lazarus and Timi Dakolo Resolve Online Dispute
Renowned singer Timi Dakolo and Apostle Femi Lazarus have put their differences aside, as revealed in a recent Instagram post by the cleric.
Their disagreement began when Apostle Lazarus criticized gospel artists for charging high fees for performances. In response, Dakolo questioned the validity of an alleged invoice attributed to him and pointed out that the cleric himself charges fees for his ministry school.
However, in a new development, Apostle Lazarus shared a photo featuring himself, Dakolo, and Apostle Iren, signifying a resolution between the parties. He commended Dakolo as a “music legend” who is deeply invested in the well-being of musicians.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by artists, the cleric expressed a commitment to improving industry structures and fostering a more supportive environment. He also emphasized the need for better collaboration between event hosts and performers.
In his Instagram post, Lazarus wrote:
“My brother @timidakolo is a music legend. Give him his flowers. What a man! He genuinely carries the burdens of musicians. His concerns are real. I love you. Better structures will be built. Pain is real. From pulpit to the pew, the pain is real, but we will be fine.
This generation will not have a carryover of pain. Hosts will do better. Guests will do better. We will have a better nation together. I don’t know how to edit my brother @pst_iren out of the picture.”
Their reconciliation has been well received by fans, many of whom commend the move as a step toward unity and progress within the industry.
