Tragedy in Lokoja: Photographer Reportedly Murdered by Colleague

A tragic incident occurred in Lokoja last night involving the suspected murder of a young creative photographer, Aiyepeku Ayo. The alleged killer, identified as Adebayo Pelumi, is said to have brutally attacked and killed Ayo in their shared office space, located near the Kogi Chieftaincy Lodge, not far from the Government House. According to reports, the two were working late editing photos when the incident happened. It’s believed that Adebayo lured Ayo outside, struck him on the head, and killed him. He then allegedly dismembered the victim and attempted to hide the body parts in a refrigerator placed in the back of his Hilux vehicle. An eyewitness, who stumbled upon the horrific scene, was too shocked to raise an alarm but quietly alerted the police. Officers responded quickly and gave chase, but Adebayo managed to escape, abandoning his damaged car in the process. Further information reveals that the suspect is an officer with the Nigerian Correctional Service in Lokoja. It's also been reported that he has a history of violence—his wife reportedly fled to Abuja recently after he allegedly attempted to kill her. Police are currently on the hunt for the suspect, and investigations are ongoing.

Atiku Leaving Won’t Destroy PDP – Party Leader

A Lagos State leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Laja Adeoye, says the party will not collapse because Atiku Abubakar has left. Instead, he believes PDP will become stronger as the 2027 elections approach. Adeoye, who wants to represent Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos. NAN had earlier reported that Atiku, who was the PDP presidential candidate in 2019 and 2023, announced his departure from the party on Wednesday. He blamed ongoing problems within the party for his decision. Although Atiku hasn’t officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the coalition of opposition leaders he is part of recently declared that they would use the ADC as their platform for the 2027 elections. Reacting to this, Adeoye said Atiku’s exit might actually bring peace to the PDP. He believes Atiku’s strong desire to become president has caused tension within the party. He said: “PDP cannot die just because one person left. This is not the first time Atiku is leaving PDP, and the party has always survived. PDP is rebuilding and will be stronger by 2027. Many people who ran to ADC will come back when they see PDP growing stronger. Even Atiku may return when he sees there’s no real path in ADC.” Adeoye also said he doesn’t oppose the idea of opposition parties coming together, but he believes PDP must lead such a coalition. “PDP is the biggest party in Africa. Any coalition without PDP leading is a waste of time,” he said. NAN also reports that several well-known politicians like Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi are already part of the new coalition.

"When I told Burna Boy my wife was pregnant, he didn’t seem happy for me," Zlatan Ibile reveals.

According to the Nigerian rapper, Burna’s reaction wasn’t exactly warm or supportive. "The first thing he asked me was, ‘Bro, do you know what you’re doing?’" Zlatan shared, implying that Burna feared his wife might cause him trouble once they had kids. But Zlatan chose not to dwell on the negativity. Instead, he continued loving and supporting his partner. He even went as far as sponsoring her education in the UK, where she earned a Master’s degree — a move that speaks volumes about his commitment to their future. This whole experience points to a bigger issue that a lot of people ignore: Some individuals, especially those still dealing with hurt from past relationships, find it hard to celebrate love when they see it working for others. They project their own pain and failures, thinking everyone else will go through the same thing. Let’s be real — Burna Boy is 34, unmarried, and doesn’t have a child. That doesn’t make him a bad person, but it does mean he might not be the best source of advice on marriage or family life. How can someone give you direction on a journey they’ve never taken? Zlatan clearly didn’t let that discourage him, and now he’s thriving — both as a father and a supportive partner. Unfortunately, many young men today are quick to idolize celebrities like Burna (often referred to here as “GehGeh”), thinking their lifestyle is the blueprint for success. Meanwhile, they ignore the wisdom of older, experienced people — like their parents who’ve sustained 60-year marriages. The truth is, some of these public figures don’t care about your life decisions — they care about engagement, clout, and clicks. And if you let them shape your views on love, family, and commitment, you might wake up one day at 60, single, and regretting your choices — especially when your friends are settled with families of their own. Congratulations to Zlatan and his wife on her graduation! 🎓 A big win for love, commitment, and choosing wisely who you listen to.

"Why I Got Married at 40" – Saka Shares His Story

Veteran Nigerian comic actor, Afeez Oyetoro, fondly known as Saka, has opened up about why he chose to marry relatively late in life — at the age of 40. Speaking on the popular show WithChude, the 61-year-old entertainer revealed that a mix of personal struggles and financial hardship early in his career delayed his journey to marriage. “I didn’t have confidence,” he admitted. “It took me a very long time to even know how to approach a woman. I got married late because of two major things: my profession, and my personal limitations.” Saka, known for his lovable roles in both television and film, said his passion for acting began in the theatre — a field that, at the time, offered little to no financial reward.
“There was no money in it. Nobody respected theatre practitioners then. We were just performing because we loved it. Unfortunately, we weren’t taught how to turn that passion into income. We were just acting, surviving on passion alone,” he said. This lack of financial stability, he said, affected his romantic relationships. He recalled one particular woman he had hoped to marry, who bluntly told him to give up theatre and do something “more relevant” with his life. “One lady even told me directly, ‘Afeez, you are wasting your life with this theatre thing.’ Another said she would only marry me if I had two cars. That’s when I knew she wasn’t the one for me,” he shared. Eventually, Saka did find love — and on his own terms. He met his wife, Olaide Oyetoro, while he was in college, and they got married in 2003. Today, they have three children together. Afeez Oyetoro holds a degree in Theatre Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University and also earned a Master’s from the University of Ibadan. Despite the tough beginnings, he has become one of Nigeria’s most respected comic actors, admired for both his humour and his resilience. His story is a testament to patience, purpose, and the power of staying true to one’s passion — even when the road is long

ADC Coalition: Obidients Are Free to Support Obi, I Have the Right to Back Atiku – Dele Momodu

Media entrepreneur and publisher of *Ovation* magazine, Chief Dele Momodu, has reaffirmed his support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the preferred presidential candidate of the opposition coalition expected to emerge under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform. Speaking on *Channels Television’s Politics Today* on Monday, Momodu made it clear that while he’s backing Atiku, supporters of Labour Party’s Peter Obi—popularly known as "Obidients"—are free to support their own candidate. “My choice is Atiku. That doesn’t stop Obidients from supporting Obi or others from backing Amaechi. That’s democracy. We’re all entitled to our choices,” he said. Momodu explained that Atiku stands out among the declared aspirants within the emerging coalition, describing him as a strong and capable leader with the experience Nigeria needs right now. He also suggested that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is uneasy about Atiku’s growing momentum, which is why they prefer a southerner to emerge as the ADC’s candidate. “The APC and its leaders are clearly uncomfortable with Atiku. That’s why they’re pushing for a southern candidate,” Momodu said. “If you listen closely to Wike and others, they’ve been insisting that the next president should come from the South. But realistically, there’s no strong southern candidate in the opposition right now.” He noted that while Rivers State politician Nyesom Wike might have been a viable southern contender, his open support for President Bola Tinubu effectively removes him from the race. “When they start attacking Atiku, it’s a clear sign that they see him as a threat,” Momodu added. Addressing concerns from Obi’s supporters, Momodu emphasized his longstanding friendship with the Labour Party leader and his respect for his ambitions. “Peter Obi is a good friend of mine. If you ask me who should lead the coalition, I’d say Obi would be a great choice. But let’s do it democratically. Let the process be open and fair so no one feels sidelined or forced into anything.”

Atiku May Never Become President – Daniel Bwala

Daniel Bwala, a presidential aide and former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 elections, has said that the former vice president may never achieve his long-standing dream of becoming Nigeria’s president. Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Bwala reflected on Atiku’s repeated attempts at the presidency, suggesting that his chances may have completely faded. “In all honesty,” Bwala said, “I believe it may never have been destined by God for him to become president. He’s done everything possible—he’s put in the work, the resources, the time—but still, he didn’t win. 2023 was his biggest opportunity, and I don’t think he’ll get anything like that again.” Bwala didn’t stop there. He also weighed in on the growing opposition coalition rumored to be forming ahead of the 2027 elections—a group said to include Labour Party’s Peter Obi and former APC leader Rotimi Amaechi. He expressed skepticism about the group’s ability to challenge President Bola Tinubu successfully. He criticized their choice of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a political platform, arguing that the coalition lacks a solid plan or compelling alternatives to current government policies. “What I find strange is that this group of politically displaced individuals hasn’t been able to present any meaningful alternative—no fresh facts, no clear policies, nothing. Even during Peter Obi’s interview, he didn’t offer real counterarguments to the policies we’re implementing,” Bwala said. He also predicted that the coalition would crumble within six months due to internal conflicts, particularly over who gets to be the presidential candidate. Citing Labour Party’s vice-presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed, Bwala recalled: “Datti himself admitted that the biggest threat to this coalition is that everyone wants to be president.” “In a month, when they all sit down, mark my words—within six months, this so-called coalition won’t even be talked about anymore. It’ll fall apart,” he added confidently.

Trump Dismisses Musk’s New Political Party as ‘Ridiculous

U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Elon Musk over the tech billionaire’s recent move to start a new political party, calling the idea “ridiculous.” Speaking to reporters on Sunday before boarding Air Force One, Trump said, “It’s always been a two-party system, and I think starting a third party just adds to the confusion.” Musk, who had hinted at the move for weeks, officially announced the creation of the America Party over the weekend on his social media platform X. According to Musk, the party aims to challenge what he calls the “Uniparty”—a term he uses to refer to both Republicans and Democrats. Trump and Musk were once considered political allies. Musk previously headed a government task force called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which focused on reducing federal spending. He has also been vocal about his concerns over growing national debt. In his post, Musk said the America Party’s main priority over the next year would be to influence congressional races in the House and Senate. He didn’t rule out backing a presidential candidate in the future. Trump, however, didn’t hold back. On his Truth Social account, he wrote, “It’s sad to see Elon Musk going completely off the rails. He’s become a train wreck over the past five weeks.” Trump also criticized Musk’s support for a nationwide Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate, claiming it would have forced Americans to adopt electric cars rapidly. Trump said he had always been against that idea and pointed out that his latest tax and spending legislation, signed into law on July 4, eliminated tax breaks for EVs. “People can now choose what kind of car they want—gas-powered, hybrids, or future tech,” Trump said. “There’s no more EV mandate.” The new legislation boosts spending on border security, defense, and energy production but also includes controversial cuts to healthcare and food aid programs. Musk’s announcement of the America Party comes amid an ongoing online feud with Trump, sparked by Musk’s frequent criticism of government spending under Trump’s leadership.

VIDEO: 2Baba Apologises to Wife, Fans Over Controversial ‘Men Not Built for One Woman’ Comment

Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has tendered a public apology to his wife, Annie Idibia, their children, and fans following the outrage sparked by a controversial statement he made about male sexuality. During a recent podcast appearance, the award-winning singer caused a stir after suggesting that men are not biologically designed to be sexually committed to just one woman. According to him, even when a man deeply loves one woman, he may still feel compelled to be sexually involved with others. "A man is not built to sexually be with one woman. A man can love one woman to death, but it’s impossible for a man to sexually be with only one woman. It’s the biology of man," 2Baba stated during the podcast. His comments quickly ignited a firestorm online, with critics accusing him of promoting infidelity and undermining the principle of monogamy. While some agreed with his view, calling it an uncomfortable truth, many others condemned it as reckless and disappointing. In a video shared on Tuesday night, the singer admitted his fault and issued a heartfelt apology. Referring to his earlier statement as "unlegendary," 2Baba expressed deep remorse over the pain his words may have caused. "I know I messed up with what I said, and I know I might get cancelled because of it. I sincerely apologise to my fans and, most importantly, to my wife, the love of my life, Annie, and to my children. I'm truly sorry. That’s not who I am," he said in the video. His apology has since drawn mixed reactions—while some praised him for taking responsibility, others urged him to be more mindful of the influence his words carry as a public figure. Kwankwaso Betrayed Our Trust — Let APC Take Him, Says NNPP

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has said it would be a welcome relief if its 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, formally defects to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This position was made clear in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos by the NNPP’s National Secretary, Mr. Oginni Olaposi. He was reacting to the recent resignation of APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the swirling speculation that his exit may be linked to ongoing negotiations with Kwankwaso. Ganduje stepped down from his role on Friday, citing health-related concerns. However, Olaposi noted that while the resignation remains an internal matter for the APC, the NNPP was compelled to respond due to Kwankwaso’s controversial involvement with both parties. "Kwankwaso still insists he is a member of our party, even after he was expelled for alleged anti-party activities," Olaposi said. "He not only attempted to hijack the NNPP but also dragged the party into needless and prolonged litigations." He pointed out that Kwankwaso had previously altered the party’s logo to reflect his personal political group, the Kwankwasiyya Movement. This change, however, was recently reversed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), restoring the original NNPP logo after years of legal battles. Reacting to speculations surrounding a possible arrangement between Ganduje and Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 elections, Olaposi expressed skepticism. "It is hard to believe that Kwankwaso, who is still fighting to dominate the NNPP, is also in talks to join the APC." He recalled that Ganduje had previously stated the APC’s willingness to welcome back defectors, suggesting that such a move by Kwankwaso would not be surprising. “Frankly, we would be glad if any deal between APC and Kwankwaso materializes,” Olaposi said. “The APC is better positioned to handle the political baggage that comes with him. For us, it would be a great relief.” He concluded by accusing Kwankwaso of betraying the party’s trust, particularly that of NNPP founder Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, who granted him the platform to contest the 2023 presidential election.
